blind contours

I use the technique of blind contour drawing to quell the logical, cognitive part of my brain and focus on how I see the lines of the body at that moment. I never redraw the lines. I apply paint in ways that enhances the aesthetics of the body's movement.

My process for creating these portraits is both intimate and intuitive.

Each piece begins with a blind contour drawing of a nude figure in motion, made while we engage in open, personal conversation. From this unfiltered sketch, I begin to paint—often over long, focused periods—incorporating elements and symbols drawn from our shared dialogue. I work slowly, refining the original lines without erasing them, allowing the form to evolve organically. The result is a portrait that seeks to honor the subject’s unique identity.

In the end, each woman chooses the title of her own portrait.
